Aaron Gashaw Commits to Cameron University Basketball
Aaron Gashaw Heads to Cameron University
Aaron Gashaw has committed to play men's basketball at Cameron University, joining the ranks of the NCAA Division II school's program. This marks an exciting development in Aaron's basketball career, as he steps into the Lone Star Conference under the leadership of Coach Nathan Kennedy.

Standing at 6'8", Aaron is known for his exceptional size, length, and athleticism on the court. He first showcased these talents as part of AUSA Hoops, an important bridge in his basketball pathway. During a three-week tour in July 2024, Aaron caught the eyes of coaches in cities like Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Indianapolis.
Diverse Experiences En Route to College
Aaron's journey has been rich with international experience. He spent a semester developing his skills at Orangeville Prep, fine-tuning his abilities and adapting to the American basketball system. Back in Australia, he continued to hone his craft with the Willetton Tigers in the Western Australian Basketball League (WABL). Here, Aaron demonstrated his versatile play style, with notable ball handling and decision-making capabilities off the perimeter, as well as his defensive prowess around the rim.
The Cameron University Program
Cameron University's men's basketball team competes in the NCAA Division II's Lone Star Conference. Recently, the team has been under new leadership with Nathan Kennedy appointed as head coach in April 2025. The program experienced varied results over the past few seasons, with a record of 18–12 in 2023–24 and subsequent challenges in the following years. Cameron University looks to rebuild and grow with talents like Aaron joining the team.
Aaron Gashaw's commitment adds to the lineage of Australian basketball players making their mark in U.S. college basketball. AUSA Hoops is proud to have been a stepping stone in his journey, alongside the many clubs and coaches who have shaped his path.
