Ilia Nabi Joins Wilbur Wright College
Ilia Nabi has taken an exciting step in his basketball career by committing to Wilbur Wright College. As a dedicated and disciplined player, Ilia's talents will soon be embraced by the Wilbur Wright men's basketball program. Standing 6'7", Ilia has developed into a formidable defensive player, known for his commitment on both ends of the court.
Ilia's journey, supported by a wide basketball community, sees him ready to compete at the NJCAA Division I level in the Chicago Area Athletic Conference, under Coach Carlos Thomas. This move marks a new chapter where Ilia’s growth on and off the court will continue to unfold at Wilbur Wright, a program emphasizing discipline and consistency.
Far, Ilia's mum, expressed her pride, saying, "I’m incredibly grateful to have watched him grow into the dedicated and disciplined player that he is now. He has faced many challenges along the way and sacrificed so much, but always showed his character by never giving up. I couldn’t be more proud of him not just as an athlete, but also as a strong, humble and hard working young man. Thank you to the AUSA team and Coach Jordan for the guidance, support and encouragement along his way."
Wilbur Wright College Basketball Program
Wilbur Wright College's men's basketball program competes at the NJCAA Division I level, within the Chicago Area Athletic Conference. Led by Coach Carlos Thomas, now in his second season, the team prides itself on discipline and hard work. Although recent seasons have been challenging, including a 0–29 record in the 2025–26 season, the program is committed to building a competitive and consistent team.
Ilia's path to Wilbur Wright has been paved by years of hard work with teams, clubs, and mentors, including his time with the Nunawading Spectres and his tours with AUSA Hoops. As Ilia continues to develop his skills and contribute to his team, he remains a shining example of dedication in Australian basketball.
