Jemma Amoore's Commitment to University of Kentucky
Jemma Amoore, the talented point guard from Ballarat, has officially committed to the University of Kentucky. Known for her defensive skills and leadership, Jemma brings her experience and unique skill set to the Kentucky Wildcats, looking forward to contributing positively to their culture.
Jemma's path to this significant commitment wasn't straightforward. She initially started her college basketball career at Sacramento State, moving to the University of Indianapolis in her second year. Now in her third year, she has embraced a new opportunity and challenge with the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Jemma first came onto the radar during a tour with AUSA Hoops in 2023, where she showcased her skills as a pass-first point guard who loves to defend aggressively and play with pace. Her journey through college basketball has been anything but smooth. After an initial year at Sacramento State, followed by a stint at the University of Indianapolis, Jemma sought a return closer to home. However, the call from the University of Kentucky came at just the right moment, opening a new chapter in her career.
University of Kentucky: A Resurgent Program
Jemma will join the Wildcats, an NCAA Division I program competing in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Under the guidance of head coach Kenny Brooks, who took over in 2024, the team is experiencing a resurgence. Brooks, with a distinguished coaching record across multiple universities, led the Wildcats to a Sweet Sixteen appearance in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
Brooks has been pivotal in turning the program around, achieving back-to-back 20-win seasons and earning recognition as Sporting News National Coach of the Year in 2025. With a strong trajectory and promising future, the Wildcats offer Jemma a vibrant environment where she can contribute her unique skills.
