Monty Darwin Commits to Muskegon Community College Basketball

Monty Darwin Joins Muskegon Community College's Men’s Basketball

Monty Darwin, a 6-foot-5-inch wing with a strong defensive presence, has committed to play for Muskegon Community College (MCC). Monty, known for his physical ability to guard inside and his improving perimeter skills, will be an exciting addition to the MCC men's basketball team.

Monty's development over the years has been supported by a broad community including junior clubs, schools, family, and many coaches and programs. He previously toured with AUSA Hoops, where he demonstrated dedication and improvement in his game. AUSA Hoops has been a supportive part of his basketball pathway, connecting him to opportunities that have led to this college commitment.

This opportunity will serve him greatly as he pursues his basketball dreams beyond the 2-year level," said Coach Brady Flynn, Head Coach at MCC. "In addition, Monty is the first international student that men’s basketball has ever had at Muskegon Community College. We know his character and work ethic will serve him well and that he’ll be an outstanding representative of MCC athletics. About Muskegon Community College Men’s Basketball

Muskegon Community College's men’s basketball program competes in the NJCAA, primarily within Region XII and the Michigan Community College Athletic Association. The team is guided by veteran Head Coach Gene Gifford, who returned in the 2022-23 season. Under his leadership, MCC posted a notable 15–12 overall record in the 2024-25 season, highlighting a competitive edge.

The Muskegon program has a history of resilience and growth, with recent seasons reflecting steady performance despite early challenges like team injuries. Monty's commitment marks the introduction of international talent to the team, reflecting a promising direction for both him and MCC moving forward.
