Coach Zac Claus, leading Western Colorado's men's basketball team, shared his enthusiasm for Ronin's addition, "We are really excited to add Ronin Evans to our program. His combination of shooting, smarts and toughness will allow him to be a valuable member of our team from day one. We look forward to the positive impact we expect him to make."

Western Colorado Basketball

Western Colorado's men's basketball program competes in the NCAA Division II as part of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Zac Claus took over as head coach in June 2023. In his first season at the helm, the team recorded an overall 11-17 and a conference record of 8-14. As the program works on rebuilding, Ronin's versatility and skills will be a significant asset to the team.

The program's long history includes their solitary appearance in the RMAC tournament final back in 1993. The Mountaineers are striving to revive their competitive edge under new leadership, and Ronin's commitment is a positive step in this direction.

AUSA Hoops and Community Support

Ronin's journey highlights the role of AUSA Hoops and the broader basketball community in his development. Over two summer tours with AUSA, Ronin gained valuable experience and exposure to the USA style of play, while his family gained insight into the college basketball pathway.

Reflecting on his experience, Ronin's parents, Kirsty and Mark Evans, expressed their gratitude, "Ronin traveled in two tours with AUSA during year 11 & 12. This was the best decision we made! Not only for Ronin to gain experience with the USA style of play, but to educate us as a family in the process of making his dream come true. Coach Jordan from AUSA has been a steady guide for Ronin through this whole process and we are very grateful."

As Ronin Evans commits to Western Colorado, he does so with the unwavering support of his family, the Australian basketball community, and the programs that helped him along the way.
