Sebastian Frater Commits to Mount Aloysius College
Sebastian Frater has made a significant step forward in his basketball pathway by committing to play for Mount Aloysius College. This commitment sees him join the Mounties at the NCAA Division III level, competing in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Pat Martinelli.

Sebastian's journey to this point has been built on years of dedication and development. He has taken part in two AUSA Hoops tours, which have supported his evolution as a player. However, the roots of his success spread wider. A key part of his development has been his time at the Brian Kerr Basketball Academy in Brisbane, where he has refined his skills under the mentorship of former Olympian Brian Kerr.
Sebastian's abilities on the court include scoring from the perimeter, handling the ball under pressure, and a marked improvement in his physicality, all qualities that have made him ready for the physical and fast-paced American basketball style. His commitment to both his athletic and academic endeavors during high school has laid a strong foundation for his collegiate aspirations.
Mount Aloysius College Basketball Program
Mount Aloysius College's men's basketball team competes in the AMCC, a division characterized by strong competition and dynamic play. With Pat Martinelli at the helm after taking over in April 2026, the program is looking to continue progressing. The previous head coach, Marcus Thomas, led the team to glimpses of improvement, such as a notable win over Penn State Altoona in 2024.
The team's most recent season ended with a 7–18 record, including 5–11 in conference play. Although the program has yet to secure AMCC regular-season or tournament titles or make NCAA Tournament appearances, the hope is that new leadership will steer the Mounties towards a brighter future.
Sebastian’s move to Mount Aloysius College signifies a new chapter in his basketball journey, where he will undoubtedly contribute to the team's efforts under Coach Martinelli's direction. AUSA Hoops is proud to have been a part of Sebastian's wider basketball community, supporting his journey to college basketball.
