Spencer Gaze Joins Oklahoma City University

Spencer Gaze, the talented Australian basketball player, has announced his commitment to Oklahoma City University (OCU), where he will join the Stars men's basketball team. After spending his freshman year with Coach Moser at UT Tyler, Spencer will follow the coach to his new NAIA team at OCU as he enters his sophomore year.

Standing at 6'7, Spencer played in 11 games last season, averaging 1.1 points per game with a season-high of 5 points in a single match. Despite limited playing opportunities, his abilities in scoring, defense, and rebounding have shown significant promise for his continued development in college basketball. His decision to follow Coach Moser reflects the strong bond and trust between player and coach, as they aim to achieve success together in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Oklahoma City University Men's Basketball

Oklahoma City University's men's basketball program competes in the NAIA within the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Stars have a rich history with six NAIA Division I national championships to their name, achieved in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2007, and 2008. More recently, they claimed the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament championship in 2026.

The team is currently led by head coach Sam Kohnke, who joined OCU in July 2025 after a successful stint at Central Baptist College. During his tenure there, Kohnke compiled a 91-38 record, highlighting his capability to guide teams to victory. His teams consistently ranked among the top in Arkansas, setting several school records along the way.

OCU's home games are played at the Abe Lemons Arena, which holds a capacity of 3,500. As Spencer Gaze joins this storied program, he becomes part of a broader community, including family, junior clubs, and fellow players, who have supported his basketball journey and continue to cheer for his success.
