Thomas Lea Commits to the University of Mary
Thomas Lea has taken a significant step in his basketball career by committing to the University of Mary, marking a promising continuation of his journey in the sport. Thomas, a talented guard with a formidable 6'5 frame, will be joining the University of Mary men's basketball program, competing in the NCAA Division II within the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).

AUSA Hoops and Community Support
Thomas' basketball pathway has been shaped by a wide network of community support, from his time with the Frankston Blues to the AUSA Hoops program. His development as a prolific scorer and facilitator is a result of the dedication and hard work he has put into the sport over the years. Participating in the AUSA tours in Years 10 and 12 allowed Thomas valuable exposure to the college basketball system in the United States. His mother expressed gratitude, stating, "We would like to thank Jordan and everyone at AUSA Hoops for their support throughout Thomas' recruitment journey. Participating in AUSA tours in Years 10 and 12 gave Thomas valuable exposure to the United States college basketball system and a clearer understanding of the pathway available to him. Jordan's guidance and support throughout the recruitment process, especially in recent months, was invaluable. As a family, we are incredibly grateful for the opportunities AUSA Hoops provided and the role they played in helping Thomas achieve his goal of committing to the University of Mary."
Joining the University of Mary Basketball Program
The University of Mary men's basketball team, under the guidance of head coach Darren Tighe, competes in the NSIC, where Thomas' skills will be put to test. The team has had its share of challenging seasons but is looking forward to improvement under Tighe's coaching. He brings a solid track record from previous positions, including a 17-13 record in his first season at Dakota State. Thomas will be the fourth AUSA alum to join the University of Mary under Coach Tighe.
Thomas' journey reflects the contributions of numerous influences and experiences in his life, affirming that the path to such achievements is backed by a larger community. As he prepares to embark on this new chapter at the University of Mary, the basketball community and his supporters back home in Australia will surely be watching and cheering him on.
