Nutrition on tour.

What to eat for training camps, tournament days, and travel/recovery days — from AUSA Performance Strength & Conditioning Coach Marsh.

At AUSA Hoops we understand nutrition plays a vital role in athletic performance. For the benefit of our players and their families, Coach Marsh, one of our Strength & Conditioning Coaches at AUSA Performance, has crafted a series of nutritional guidelines.

These recommendations are designed to optimise performance during the different phases of our tours, from tournament days and travel periods to rigorous training camps. Use them to plan eating strategies that support energy levels, enhance recovery, and improve overall performance on the court.

  • Training Camp

How do we prepare ourselves nutrition-wise for training camp days? Go for high-energy meals at breakfast and high-energy snacks during the morning. Switch to high-protein meals for the rest of the day, including plenty of fibre and vegetables.

  • Tournament Days

Consuming energy consistently throughout the day is the top priority. Complex carbs at breakfast, simple carbs throughout the day, and high-value snacks between games to keep your tank full.

  • Travel / Recovery Day

Focus on rest and recovery. Find meals close to your usual diet when possible. Go for good sources of protein and carbohydrates, and avoid high-fat meals where you can, they slow recovery and make travel less comfortable.
